Service Engineer

Michael started using computers in the mid-1980’s, learning the ropes on a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 3. He even taught himself how to do simple programs in Basic. His first PC was a Packard Bell XT. The first PC he custom built himself was a 286 machine with a 12Mhz turbo button. He did all of that before he even hit his teenage years!

After graduating high school, one of Michael’s first jobs was working in a computer store as a technician. Since then, he has been employed by a variety of well-known companies, including America On-Line (AOL), Microsoft, and, most recently, Dell. Michael is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and is familiar with a wide range of operating systems including Windows, Mac OS, Linux, and BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution). Michael joined The Miller Group in February, 2012.

Favorite thing about working at The Miller Group?
I like working as a team with other technicians. Often I find that other technicians have ideas and insights that I may not have thought of, or they may have run into a specific issue before and save me quite a bit of time researching an issue new to myself.

First computer you owned?1
The first family computer was a Packard Bell (IBM XT ) It had CGA graphics and a very loud computer speaker.

The first one I built was a clone 286 that ran at 8/12Mhz. It had a Turbo button! It also had one of the first CD-ROM drives.

If you could teleport where would you go, why?
It’s a toss-up. I’ve wanted to visit both Scotland and Australia. Both are on a shortlist of places to visit. I think both of the countries are really beautiful and have unique landscapes and history.

If you were a super hero what would your powers be?
I am already a Super Hero. My wife sometimes calls me Captain Obvious, as I sometimes.. wait for it.. state the obvious.

If you could teach any grade or subject what would it be?
I would like to teach Math or Science. I’ve always been good at tutoring people in the subjects.

Coolest Technology not yet invented?
The transporter. I’m almost always running late for appointments, so this would be a good way to get there on time. (Of course I’d probably still be late…)
