A year out of college and working full-time for a large St. Louis-based company, Mike Miller founded “Miller Computing” in 1985 as a software development firm. After five years of wearing two hats, Mike turned his full attention to The Miller Group. Starting with a staff of just two, Mike landed a contract with AT&T and became their only authorized training center in St. Louis.
Over the years, the company’s focus broadened and changed, as did the name. In the mid-1990s, Miller Computing became The Miller Group, a name which better reflected the direction in which the company was heading.
His God, his family, and The Miller Group (in that order) were the central reasons Mike got out of bed in the morning. Mike passed away on November 26, 2011. He was our friend and our boss, and in that order.
In the first weeks after his death, we were asked many questions… “How is The Miller Group doing?” “Is the business holding up?” “Were we going to get by?”
“WWMD?” was the question all those at The Miller Group asked to guide the company after his passing. Even though the mood was dark for quite some time, the answer was simple. Mike established a company that was dedicated to customer service and to the needs of our clients. Mike’s integrity and his guiding light were, and still are, easy beacons to follow. With our new CEO, Joe Svoboda, at the helm, we began a new phase and continue to look toward serving our clients.
In life, Mike helped many people. His family began an organization called “Mike’s Helping Hands” to pull together community volunteers and help families in need. To see more about their work, please visit here.
